Research on Information Sharing Strategies for AUV Swarms under Communication Constraints

  • Autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) swarms have been widely applied in cooperative underwater operations. To achieve efficient task coordination, multiple AUVs are required to perform periodic communication to share their state information. Conventional information sharing strategies typically require all AUVs to remain within mutual communication range. The limited communication range restricts the mobility of AUVs, thereby reducing the efficiency of cooperative operations. To address this issue, a communication-constrained information sharing strategy (CISS) for AUV swarms is proposed in this paper. By leveraging the exponential attenuation characteristic of underwater acoustic channels, the proposed method adaptively adjusts the transmission power and forwarding nodes of AUVs according to the dynamic changes in network topology, without imposing additional constraints on the AUV formation. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively alleviates the limitations of communication strategies on AUV mobility and improves the overall operational efficiency of the system.
